Queen Marking
Queen marking is the application of a colored dot on the queen's thorax for easy identification. The color follows an international 5-year cycle: white (years ending in 1/6), yellow (2/7), red (3/8), green (4/9), blue (5/0). Marking helps locate the queen quickly and indicates her age.
