Wax Cycle

The wax cycle describes the closed loop of beeswax within an apiary: old combs are melted down, cleaned, and processed into new foundation sheets. A self-contained wax cycle prevents the accumulation of chemical residues and is mandatory in organic beekeeping. Using foreign wax carries contamination risks.
